Items are various useful objects that characters can acquire in Eternal Return. These items provide special benefits and/or abilities beyond a character's basic capabilities.

items can be obtained through looting and hunting animals, but several ones can only be reliably obtained through crafting by mixing two different items together. Any item that can be used for crafting is referred to as a component. Crafting is done through the Crafting Menu (bound to B by default).

There are 6 item tiers:

  • Common: These are basic items and components that can be found by looting containers, from material gathering spots or by hunting wild animals.
  • Uncommon: These are mainly items created by mixing two basic items together.
  • Rare: These are items created by mixing two items from lower tiers together. Some Rare food can be looted from blue air supply boxes.
  • Epic: These are items created by mixing two items from lower tiers together. Limited materials can be looted from purple air supply boxes or by hunting android bosses (Alpha, Omega and Wickeline).
  • Legendary: These are items created by mixing two items from lower tiers together (which will include limited materials).
  • Mythic: These are the highest tier items made with the rare VF Blood Sample. A select number of versatile equipment can be looted red air supply boxes.

Additionally, players can use Credit Credits to call Transfer Drones to instantly acquire items from anywhere on the island. The cost of calling in a drone increases with each use.

To purchase higher tier items with credits, players must use a Kiosk which are only available at specific spots on the island, however there is a significant delay before the item is delivered to the console and must be collected manually afterwards. Using one of these consoles will also alert other players.

When a player is defeated, they will leave a corpse behind with any items they were holding at the time that can then be looted by other players. Any Legendary or Mythic equipment will be converted into a Reward that grants credits on use. Only half of items such as food, beverages, and vision items that the player was carrying will be collectable, with the number rounded down. (For example, if the player had 5 items, only 2 will be lootable. In other words, 3 items will remain untouched.)

Some items are exclusive to certain game modes.

Item types[ | ]

There are 5 categories that items are sorted in:

  • Weapons: There are various objects that characters can use as a weapon, ranging from Assault Rifles to Guitars, each character has their own set of possible weapons to use. All weapon types come with a unique weapon skill.
  • Armor: There are multiple armor types that players can acquire that must be equipped in a specific gear slot: Head, Chest, Arm, Leg and Accessory - each providing various stat boosts and other benefits.
  • Consumables: These are items that will refill the character's HP or SP upon being consumed. Some of these consumables may also grant additional effects.
  • Installation: These are items that can be deployed on the ground. They include traps, surveillance cameras, etc.
  • Ingredients: These are components that can only be used to to craft items from other categories or ingredients of a higher tier.
